“What is this for again?”
“It’s for the school newspaper. We all have to interview somebody we admire and write an article about them.”
“And you chose me?”
“You are the brother of the Alpha and I love that you work with the wild wolves. I would love to become involved with that one day.”
“Yes, there is nothing like it. It’s an amazing feeling to help them, save them and spend time with them.”
“That sounds so wonderful. How did you get into your work at the Centre? Did you always want to work there?”
“Okay, one question at a time, little miss. Okay, I did not always want to work with the wolves, only from about the age of ten. My dad took me with him one day to the center and I just felt a connection to them.”
“What does your work entail?”
“I am mostly the one who follows up on reports. I go to the area, search for the injured wolf. If I can’t help him there, I tranquilize the wolf and bring him back here.”
“So, they stay at the Centre than forever?”
“No, if we can release them back into the wild, we do. Some are just not able to return to the wild.”
“That is so sad, but I am glad they have you to look after them.”
“So am I, little Miss. You know, if you really want to be involved in the care of wolves, you can study to become a veterinarian. The pack will back you and pay for all your studies.”
“Really? I can do that? That would be so awesome.”
“You have to study hard. It’s not an easy area of study.”
“I will. Why didn’t you study to become a veterinarian?”
“I am the alpha’s brother, and next in line. I never felt I had the freedom to choose my own path.”
“I think I understand. You don’t want to like it too much, because you may not be able to continue doing it.”
“You are too wise for your age, little miss. I think you understand.”
“Will you talk to the Alpha for me? I promise to study hard and do my very best.”
“I will talk to him. I promise.”
“Thank you.”
“Let me take you on a tour of the center. You can ask me more questions for your article.”
